A gorgeous, scrappy quilt made with a fantastic assortment of 19th century fabrics against a background that looks almost like an upholstery textile embroidered with little loops. This quilt is beautifully dated ‘1864’ in a corner block, which makes her 160 years old next year! Each block is like a view through a kaleidoscope of antique fabrics and they are so much fun to study and admire. Quilted in a rippling fan pattern with a contrasting indigo trim, this quilt is soft and cozy. She comes from a woman in Oregon (name unknown) who said it was in her childhood home in Minneapolis, and was part of her mother’s collection. Washed by hand and hung to dry, she is now ready to be loved by a new owner. She is in surprisingly excellent condition for her age, with just a couple tiny marks and one 1” surface tear. What a treasure to add to your collection!
