Two Green Forest Star Quilts
While thou drawest the
Blue curtains of the sky, scatter thy silver dew
On every flower that shuts its sweet eyes
In timely sleep. Let thy west wing sleep on
The lake; speak silence with thy glimmering eyes,
And wash the dusk with silver. Soon, full soon,
Dost thou withdraw; then the wolf rages wide,
And the lion glares through the dun forest.
The fleeces of our flocks are covered with
Thy sacred dew; protect with them with thine influence.
-William Blake / from To the Evening Star
Just like two sisters, this beautiful late 19th century pair of 8-point star quilts with green backgrounds are similar yet have distinctly different personalities. Sister A has smaller stars in a variety of colors, from pink and reds, to indigos, greys and blacks. Her back is a beautiful white fabric with an abstract floral lavender print. She has a streak of sun fading along one area and a small spot of discoloration but otherwise in great shape, and washed by hand. Sister B has a lighter spring green background, and her stars are bigger and have a slightly warmer color scheme, with a lot of browns and pinks. Her back is a soft light brown print. Also washed by hand and has a little fading here and there. Both are fairly generously sized and are sold separately, but go ahead and take the pair, as pairs are hard to come by! Medium weight and wonderful quilts for fall.
Measurements: Sister A - 73” x 81” / Sister B - 74” x 84”
$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.
All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
