Now sweetly shines the golden sun
The howling wind is still
The glorious light of day is flung
O'er every vale & hill

-Charlotte Bronte / from Now Sweetly Shines the Golden Sun

A truly glorious celebration of fall colors, this Golden Step Variation quilt from the mid-1800s is a show stopper. Against her wide sashing of poison green, her 9-patch blocks contain smaller 9-patch blocks within with bright pops of cheddar. Her back is almost as gorgeous as her front — a stunning floral fabric on a moody gray green background. Framed with a thin cheddar trim, this beauty will be a treasure in your collection. She has been gently yet thoroughly washed by hand and is in overall very good condition for her age. She has a couple beautiful repairs, a few small brown squares that are wearing, one small tear in the green fabric, and some light staining on some of the white calico patches. But her colorful warm color scheme is forgiving of these small flaws, and she is a beauty to behold. Lucky is her new owner!

Measurements: 84” x 86”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards Tubman’s Hopetober campaign during domestic violence awareness month. Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
