Blue and Cream Floral Checkerboard Quilt
Pattern: Offset One-Patch / Checkerboard
Date: 1860-1870
Provenance/Notes:
An incredibly elegant quilt from the mid-19th century in an oversized checkerboard design made primarily of two exquisite fabrics— a varied sea blue with a floral leaf motif and a cream with red, green, and blue accents.
Two blocks were pieced with a deeper indigo fabric — most likely where the quilter ran out of the fabric being used.
This is an unusually large quilt and will drape a king bed
Maker/origin unknown
In excellent condition with beautiful patina and a lovely hand. She has been washed by hand and has a few very light and hard-to-find residual stains and one area of fading. See last photo.
Measurements: 94” x 102”
