Deep Indigo Irish Chain Quilt

I would love to live like a river flows,

carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.

John O’Donohue

A beloved quilt, and understandably so. Likely passed through many hands, she shows the marks of age. Her beautiful deep indigo with pleasing pink chain and soft muslin back are a delight, and the years of love have given her indigo fabric a beautiful fade. Though she doesn’t have any batting, the quilter sandwiched a lovely layer between the front and back, that is now visible through the worn pieces. It’s a cream fabric with a light black print, and is delightfully reminiscent of an old letter. The quilter would probably not have guessed the quilt would have been loved to this point of reveal. As shown in photos, she has quite a bit of wear mostly towards the edges, with a couple blocks that where the front has completely worn off. She's still so lovely hanging on a chair or to use as a soft, carefree piece. May she go on to live many more beautiful decades in a new home!

Measurements: 62” x 77”

PLEASE SELECT SHIPPING FOR QUILT ($20), NOT FOR A SMALL QUILT PIECE ($8). ORDER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP OTHERWISE.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards the Tahiri Justice Center, a national non-profit organization that supports immigrant survivors of gender-based violence. See Tahiri.org for more on their work.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
