Delectable Mountains Quilt with Sawtooth Border

$0.00
sold

One of two pieces that hails from the Packwood House Museum collection in Pennsylvania that closed its doors a few years ago, this Delectable Mountains quilt is a heartbreaker. Not only are her twirling red blocks delightful but her in-between spaces are quilted with an unusually elaborate wreath of daisies that give the quilt an incredibly varied textural landscape. Don’t miss the fish-scale quilting within the pieced blocks. Her red fabric is a beautiful crimson color and her sawtooth border echoes all the triangles in the blocks. She has been washed by hand and is in excellent condition with no structural issues. She has just the slightest hint of toning on a couple white areas, but nothing that draws the eye. (See last couple photos.) Museum documentation will be included with this quilt.

Measurements: 73.5” x 74”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

International customers: If you enter a shipping address outside of the US, you will not be charged for shipping upon checkout. A separate invoice will be sent once shipping is calculated. 15% of profits from this sale will go specifically towards supporting the quilt collection at the American Folk Art Musuem in NYC. See their website for more information about their current quilt exhibit “What the Quilt Knows About Me” and to order the 2nd edition of “Red and White Quilts: Infinite Variety.”

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
