Double Irish Chain Quilt
A beautiful rendition of the classic Double Irish Chain, with bright red squares against a sea of white calico. Tiny black dots are faded beautifully on the front to a brown-black, and another pretty white calico fabric was used for the back, which was turned to make the trim. Lightweight with just the right amount of crisp and puff, this quilt makes a scrumptious bedcover. Thoroughly washed by hand, and in excellent condition with just a few tiny hard-to-notice marks/blemishes (and a couple little stains on back – see photos) and no structural issues. She is also a nice larger size for those who are looking for a full bed cover.
Measurements: 86” x 90”
$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.
International customers: If you enter a shipping address outside of the US, you will not be charged for shipping upon checkout. A separate invoice will be sent once shipping is calculated. All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.
15% of profits from this sale will go specifically towards supporting the quilt collection at the American Folk Art Musuem in NYC. See their website for more information about their current quilt exhibit “What the Quilt Knows About Me” and to order the 2nd edition of “Red and White Quilts: Infinite Variety.”
Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
