Autumn Wildflower Dresden Plate Quilt
Do you also hurry, half-dressed and barefoot, into the garden, and softly, and exclaiming of their dearness, fill your arms with the white and pink flowers, with their honeyed heaviness, their lush trembling, their eagerness to be wild and perfect for a moment, before they are nothing, forever?
Mary Oliver / from “New and Selected Poems, Vol. 1”
Oh the beauty of the wildflower, so perfect yet fleeting! This Dresden Plate quilt captures this fleeting beauty with her romantic floral prints, perfected by her well-earned fades. Zoom in to see some of her gorgeous sugar sack fabrics with that occasional pop, like the golden yellow petal. Her ice-cream cone border is gorgeous — with her tips extending beyond the main quilt and adding a touch of flutter. A couple of the printed fabrics had fugitive pink dye and a bit of bled through to the back and transferred lightly to a few of the cream areas of the quilt during the washing process (see photos). A few tiny mends behind her border (as shown). But she’s thoroughly clean and ready to add romance to someone’s space.
Measurements: 66”x78”
All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.
15% of profits from this sale will go towards Tubman —an organization in Minneapolis that supports victims of domestic violence. Funds will go to their Hopetober campaign, which raises money for their Freedom Fund — a fund that allows them to direct immediate financial assistance to their clients.
Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
