Heirloom Blazing Star Quilt with Sawtooth Frame
I slept
as never before, a stone
on the riverbed, nothing
between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated
light as moths among the branches

I heard the small kingdoms breathing
around me, the insects, and the birds
who do their work in the darkness. All night
I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling
with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.

Her colors have remained rich for almost a century and a half — a deep cheddar, a bright red and a lovely oyster white, backed by the most exquisite brown fabric printed with rows of tiny florals. Folded and draped on a sofa or rack, her colors and geometry will add a striking (even modern) accent; spread open on a bed or a wall, she creates a stunning focal point.
