Indigo Schoolhouse Quilt
A stunning and rare piece of antique Americana, this indigo house quilt is a collector’s treasure. Twenty-eight houses made in an indigo calico sit against a creamy background fabric that has been quilted with beautiful feathered wreaths. A nice layer of batting in the middle gives this quilt a bit more substance than a very thin quilt. It’s clear that she has been gently loved over the years, and has the gorgeous patina to prove it. She has been washed by hand and is in great condition for her age with just a couple very light marks and very faint shadow of a residual stain and a couple pinhead-sized wear spots (see last photo) — nothing that detracts from her beauty. Lucky is the owner who gets to enjoy her for her next lifetime!
