One of the oldest patterns in American History, the Lover’s Knot (also known as the Bow Tie), is a classic beauty. There are many arrangements of the knot pattern, but in this piece, the beauty of the pattern is highlighted by the alternating addition of the simple indigo squares. This quilt is comprised of some of the most sought after turn-of-century indigos, clarets, cinnamons and whites, with the inclusion of a few lemon yellows. And they are faded and worn to perfection without compromising the integrity of the fabric. The only wear is along the edges, where the binding has frayed (see photo). She’s soft and clean and the perfect piece to have handy at the foot of your bed or the edge of your favorite chair.
