Heirloom Moccasin Flowers Irish Chain Quilt

But all my life--so far--
I have loved best
how the flowers rise
and open, how

the pink lungs of their bodies
enter the fore of the world
and stand there shining
and willing--the one

thing they can do before
they shuffle forward
into the floor of darkness, they
become the trees.

-Mary Oliver / from Moccasin Flowers

The most romantic of quilts, this soft pink and clover green Irish chain with scalloped edges is an heirloom quality quilt, pieced and quilted by expert hands. Her back is as beautiful as her front, made of a naturally dyed brown with a beautiful, small print; she is worth enjoying for her back alone! The petal pink fabric on front has a very fine pink print, and the green is grassy and cheerful in contrast. Beautiful for fall but also perfect year-round, this quilt will be a treasure in your collection. She has been gently but thoroughly washed, and is in great condition for her age. There are a few weak spots on her brown fabric and one mend — see photo. A slight bit of scattered staining on her top edge that is hardly perceptible. Treat her gently and she will be enjoyed for decades to come. Lucky is her new owner!

Measurements: 74” x 87”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards Tubman’s Hopetober campaign during domestic violence awareness month. Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
