Everything that was broken has
forgotten its brokenness. I live
now in a sky-house, through every
window the sun. Also your presence.
Our touching, our stories. Earthly
and holy both. How can this be, but
it is. Every day has something in
it whose name is forever.

–Mary Oliver / from Everything That Was Broken

A beautiful, timeless indigo Chimney Sweep quilt on a calico white background, this quilt has been dearly loved over her past one hundred or so years. There is a beautiful patina on her indigo blocks, the kind of fading that only comes with time and use. Zoom in to see the variety of indigo fabrics used. The middle section is in good condition, but her shorter edges have fabric wear, particularly along one area on a side where the white fabric has worn quite a bit (see photos). She has been thoroughly and gently cleaned and hung to dry and is ready to be continue enjoying as is, or she could potentially be cut down to a slightly smaller size if desired. A classic beauty.

Measurements: 67” x 80”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards Tubman’s Hopetober campaign during domestic violence awareness month. Tubman provides safe shelter, legal services, mental and chemical health counseling, youth programming, and community education throughout the Twin Cities. See tubman.org for more information on their important work.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
