The sun is rich

And gladly pays

In golden hours,

Silver days,

And long green weeks

That never end.

-John Updike / from June

There is nothing as cool and grounding as the pine trees that stand proud and tall both summer and winter. The beautiful trees on this Norway Pine Tree pattern quilt were likely once all a deep shade of green. One group of trees was pieced with a fabric that changed over time, likely through a washing process, leaving a section of the trees a shade of gray. The result is a landscape that is more interesting and modern than the quilter originally intended. Thirty-six relatively small trees grace this quilt, with a lovely quilting pattern in the negative spaces. Lightweight and in excellent condition, she’s a quilt to enjoy throughout all seasons. She would make a beautiful wall accent in place of a wallpaper, and has a lightly stitched pole sleeve along one side for hanging if desired. She’s in great condition for a white quilt her age (circa 1930s or so), with just a couple tiny pinprick marks (see last photo) and the slightest touch of aging to her white background (hardly noticeable). Such a lovely quilt to add to your collection!

Measurements: 69” X 75”

PLEASE SELECT SHIPPING FOR QUILT ($20), NOT FOR A SMALL QUILT PIECE ($10). ORDER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP OTHERWISE.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards House of Ruth — an organization in DC that supports women (and their children) who are victims of domestic violence.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
