Pink Peony Garden Quilt

sold

A garden of pink peonies will be yours all year long with this delightful quilt that hails from the collection of the Packwood House Museum in Pennsylvania, which closed its doors a few years ago. In a beautiful shade of bubblegum pink framed by sweet pea green leaves, this quilt will bring the brightness of spring to your space. The grid quilting is a wonderful contrast to the organic curved shapes of the flowers. In great overall condition, she has a few small imperfections that don’t immediately catch the eye —a few tiny surface holes, a couple spots of pinpricks stains, and a touch of aging to the background fabric here and there as expected for her 100 years of life. At some point somebody found a perfectly matching fabric to re-patch a couple of her pink petals and basted them on, but never finished the appliqué; this would be a fun little way to add a bit of your handiwork to this beauty! Please see photos for the small noted issues. She has been washed by hand and is ready to grace her new home.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards YWCA Queens in New York, a non-profit “dedicated to [their] mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.” See more at ywcaqueens.org. This donation is honor of Jennifer’s grandmother, who helped found and lead the YWCA Queens many years ago, and whose love for art, flowers, and quilting inspired this collection.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
