Poppy Wreath Quilt

sold

Twelve incredibly beautiful flower wreaths grace this stunning quilt from around the 1920s. Red and orange poppies amidst flowers of cornflower blue and daisy yellow were intricately appliquéd, with artful embroidered details. Take a look at the closeup photos to admire them! The quilting is also phenomenal throughout the crisp white background with lines radiating like sunbeams around each wreath and sweet flowers tucked in between. A soft mint border frames the quilt, and a pole sleeve was at one time lightly stitched along one side for hanging, if desired. In impeccable condition and washed by hand with only one tiny mark to note on the back, this quilt is a treasure to bring home this spring.

Measurements: 73” x 84”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards YWCA Queens in New York, a non-profit “dedicated to [their] mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.” See more at ywcaqueens.org. This donation is honor of Jennifer’s grandmother, who helped found and lead the YWCA Queens many years ago, and whose love for art, flowers, and quilting inspired this collection.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
