Turkey Red and White Nine-Patch on Point Quilt
But it’s mine, this poem of the night,
and I just stood there, listening and holding out
my hands to the soft glitter
falling through the air. I love this world,
but not for its answers.
And I wish good luck to the owl,
whatever its name –and I wish great welcome to the snow,
whatever its severe and comfortless
and beautiful meaning.

The simple beauty of this red and white beauty, one that has become more delightful with her fading over the years. Of particular note is the turkey red that has faded significantly more than the other red fabric, creating a simple depth in the landscape of the quilt. She has some signs of being loved — her worn edges, a few loose stitches here and there, and a couple small marks, but nothing glaring. She’s very thin and soft and is a lovely piece to drape on your bed, by the side of a sofa, or to have on hand in a basket. She’s been washed by hand, and is ready to live on for the next century in the hands of her next owner!
