Garden of Eden Friendship Quilt

Oh, the beauty of a Friendship quilt made by many hands! And the Garden of Eden block is such a lovely choice for it. This one is not only scrappy in her use of fabrics, but also in the individual way that the quilters decided to add their names to the quilt. Some are quiet initials in the small white squares, others are signatures stitched in cursive across a rectangular block. Towards the center is embroidered the date — Feb., 1910. A celebration of friendship and community, this quilt will envelop you in her cozy warmth. Soft and in overall very good condition with just a few little places where seams need to be re-stitched — your chance to add your touch to this storied piece. The little dots in one of the indigo fabrics (used in three of the blocks) have started to wear away, leaving little empty dots. This quilt has been washed and is clean. It does retain a lingering scent of a previously used detergent. She’s ready for the love of her new owner!

Measurements: 75” x 89”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

International customers: If you enter a shipping address outside of the US, you will not be charged for shipping upon checkout. A separate invoice will be sent once shipping is calculated. 15% of profits from this sale will go towards Hilliard House in Richmond, VA — an organization local to Flying Geese that provides short-term emergency shelter for children and adults who are on their way to a permanent home. Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
