Scrappy Ocean Waves Quilt

$785.00
sold

There’s nothing like an Ocean Waves pattern to show off a wide assortment of scrappy fabrics! The micro-striped peach background on this quilt is the perfect backdrop for so many of these old fabrics, many of them shades of brown. The larger square spaces between all the triangles is very artfully constructed, some of them split into two large triangles and others into a bowtie pattern. Look closely at the lovely fish scale quilting on some of these blocks! The background fabric that appears cream may have been tea stained; the color varies throughout the quilt from an off-white to a tan. See how the small occasional little white calico triangle pops! A thin piping was carefully applied around the border, giving this quilt a very polished feel. She has been washed by hand and is in overall great condition, with just one very small white paint mark and a few light scattered stains that blend away within her rich landscape. She’s a medium to light weight piece with a substantial feel, lovely as a bed cover or folded in a stack. A 19th century treasure!

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
