Snowy Pine Burr Quilt
The work of a skilled 19th century quilter and the beautiful effects of time and age have come together in this incredibly special piece. The original color used in this quilt was not colorfast — fugitive dye that lost its color over time and turned into the light sandy color we now see. The dark thread visible throughout once was concealed within the darker original color but now adds a lovely contrasting visual element against the light fabrics. The Pine Burr pattern is intricate and beautiful — organic in form and so detailed. This quilt has been washed by hand and is in very good condition for her age with a few mysterious tiny black dots (which blend in well because of the dark thread accents throughout), a few small loose threads and little popped seams, and a few small (and super light) residual stains — nothing that stands out. A true beauty reminiscent of a snowy landscape and cozy as can be, this is a special treasure to add to your collection.
