Star Flower Quilt

sold

A piece of incredible workmanship and beauty, this Star Flower quilt is a true gem. Her quilting is unspeakably intricate and dense, from her double ringed feathered wreaths to her fine double line quilting over all the flower blocks. The prettiest red floral fabric was used to piece the red stars, which are surrounded by leaves in a verdant ivy green with delicate appliquéd stems. Two colors were used for the trim — opposing edges in green and red. This quilt has been washed by hand, and is in wonderful condition with the exception of wear to the trim, a few tiny spots of discoloration on some of the green leaves, and one very small spot on the border that is missing a tiny piece of fabric. Her white is incredibly bright and crisp. She will transform your bed into the prettiest of flower gardens.

Measurements: 82” x 84”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards YWCA Queens in New York, a non-profit “dedicated to [their] mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.” See more at ywcaqueens.org. This donation is honor of Jennifer’s grandmother, who helped found and lead the YWCA Queens many years ago, and whose love for art, flowers, and quilting inspired this collection.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
