Starry Hole-in-the-Barn-Door Quilt

sold

A really wonderful old indigo quilt in a beloved classic pattern, this is the perfect quilt to snuggle with. Soft with a touch of extra batting that gives her just a slight bit more weight than a very thin summer quilt, this piece will easily become your go-to piece. Her starry indigo fabric has the most beautiful fading that can only come from a century and a half of time and love. The flower quilting in the in-between spaces is particularly pronounced and is such a lovely contrast to the geometric shapes of the indigo blocks. She has been washed by hand and is in overall very good condition — just a couple tiny spots where you see a little weakening of fabric, a worn trim, and a couple small light stains on the back. Who will be her loving new owner?

Measurements: 67” x 70.5”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards Hilliard House in Richmond, VA — an organization local to Flying Geese that provides short-term emergency shelter for children and adults who are on their way to a permanent home. Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
