Storybook Schoolhouse Quilt

$985.00
sold

Schoolhouse quilts are always a special find and one this sweet and charming is rare. With blue roofs, red chimneys, and a golden glow coming from her doors and windows, her houses feel like they were plucked from the pages of a picture book. In between the house blocks are sashes of cable quilting. There are two houses in the bottom right corner that have a different color fabric in their doors and windows — either the quilter ran out of the yellow fabric or decided to add a fun touch. Lights are off in the corner house! The quilt is in very good condition with just one area of white with a touch of discoloration/light staining that is not at all noticeable at a glance or from a distance (see last three photos), and a bit of very minor batting shifting throughout (no lumpiness as it’s a very thin quilt). This quilt would be incredibly charming on a bed as well as folded and displayed on a chair or rack. A special piece to make yours and cherish forever!

Measurements: 75” x 83”

Included with this quilt is a hardcover copy of Sophie Blackall’s picture book Farmhouse.

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards scholarships at Milkwood Farm, a creative retreat for the children’s book community, run by author and illustrator Sophie Blackall, author of “Farmhouse” and many other wonderful, acclaimed children’s books.

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
