Red Barn Star Quilt
Here come real stars to fill the upper skies,
That though they never equal stars in size,
(And they were never really stars at heart)
Achieve at times a very star-like start.
Only, of course, they can't sustain the part.
-Robert Frost / Fireflies in the Garden
A truly charming quilt from the late 1800s, with barn red sashing set against a soft green pistachio and a white fabric dotted with tiny light blue stars, like fireflies at night. She’s reminiscent of a country view on a clear summer eve, and being as soft and cozy as she is, she’ll invite you to dream of summer even when the season turns colder. Yet her colors will transition beautifully into the fall and even the winter months – she’s truly a great year-round piece! Her previous owner thought her worthy of gracing a wall and she has a pole sleeve lightly stitched along one back edge. She’s also been carefully cared for and is in great condition and has a few little charming repairs on her red sashing that blend in beautifully and are reminders of her history. Who will be her lucky new owner?
Measurements: 74” x 75.5”
PLEASE SELECT SHIPPING FOR QUILT ($20), NOT FOR A SMALL QUILT PIECE ($10). ORDER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP OTHERWISE.
All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.
15% of profits from this sale will go towards House of Ruth — an organization in DC that supports women (and their children) who are victims of domestic violence.
Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.
Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
