Wild sings the bird of the heart in the forest of our lives.

-Mary Oliver

Over 3,300 tiny triangles were pieced together to make this stunning quilt over 150 years ago. It’s hard to imagine the hours that were put into making this beauty. Made from an incredibly assorted stash of antique fabrics, this quilt is basically in and of itself a catalog of mid 1800s fabrics. Take a look at the photos to get a sense of the different types of fabrics included, from a large variety of browns and blues with stunning pops of pink and yellow. Needless to say, the quilt has an incredible texture from all the piecing and quilting. She is in pretty great condition for her age, with just a few small spots here and there. The negative spaces on the front may have been a touch lighter in the past and have darkened a touch over time (slight touches of bleeding from some of the brown fabrics — see last photo). Her back is a lovely muslin color. She has been washed by hand and hung to dry and is ready to delight her new owner.

Measurements: 71” x 87”

$20 flat rate shipping includes insurance coverage for the full purchase amount.

All quilts come with a muslin tag noting any known history, and an archival Micron pen for you to add yours.

15% of profits from this sale will go towards Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV) — an organization in Atlanta, Georgia that supports women and children survivors of domestic violence through various initiatives. To learn more about their work, visit their website at https://padv.org/

Note on antique/vintage quilts: Many of the quilts we sell have been loved, slept under, washed, sunshine dried, taken on picnics, slept on underneath the stars, and lived lifetimes before arriving at our doorstep. You can expect to see repairs made by later generations, fraying around the edges or in certain blocks, discoloration or yellowing, cotton/wool batting—or as we like to call them, tiny sheep—peeking through. They are imperfect, but their imperfections are charming to us and we hope you feel the same. They are reminders to us of their old age and the history to which they've been a witness. We try our best to note any imperfections, but it’s possible we might miss one here and there. Well-crafted, handmade antique quilts in their original form are becoming scarcer, and we believe it's vital that we preserve them and continue to love them, imperfections and all.

Because these quilts are one-of-a-kind and we are a tiny enterprise, we do not accept returns; please review all photos and the description carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
