Tulip Appliqué Quilt with Hourglass Border
A magnificent quilt made in the mid to late 1800s by expert hands, a patient heart, and an artistic eye. There are not enough words to describe the beautiful details on this quilt. Not only is the dense quilting wonderful, but the composition is so pleasing —the delicate tulip blocks framed by a wispy and organic border of waving tulip vines and an hourglass border made of tiny turkey red triangles. The red and green fabrics have faded to perfection. This is a quilt that is as wonderful to display as it is to use. The tiny stitches will hold her together for a long, long time and she’s in excellent condition, despite having been loved over the years. With just a few tiny spots and a couple negligible shadows of previous stains, she’s in wonderful shape for her age. She has been washed by hand and will be an absolute treasure for her new owner.
