Winter Woods Touching Stars Quilt
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

How to best convey the beauty of this quilt? The dense and varied quilting throughout, the delicately and precisely pieced stars that touch at their tippy points, and the pleasing colors of nature — the poison green and the earthy rust red against a crisp cloud white. It’s a palette that’s perfectly festive for the holidays but also one that brings the outside in all year round. Look at the photos to see some of the details in the quilting such as the birds in the larger white blocks and the hundreds of concentric circular over the stars. Freshly washed by hand and clean as can be, this quilt is in excellent condition with the exception of a few small stains on the back. The front is clean and crisp. There is a lightly stitched pole sleeve on back should you wish to display her on a wall. She’s ready to become true focal point in her new home!
